Looking forward to having you aboard

SV First Light

Philadelphia, PA

Glad to welcome you aboard First Light. She’s a 1989 O’Day 322, cared for by James and his family, and well suited to the conditions of the Delaware River. Stepping off the dock and onto her deck, the city begins to shift. The sounds of the city fall back, the air comes alive, and the rhythm of the river sets the pace.

Out on the river are moments modern life often lets us miss. A gentle breeze brushes your cheek. There is a soft rush of water sliding past the hull that can’t be heard over the rumble of an engine. The city reveals itself differently, offering a quieter way to take it in and a moment to arrive as you are.

As the sail unfolds, we may travel with the wind, drift with the current, or simply hold our place and watch the city move around us. Time on First Light offers a perspective that streets, bridges, and trains rush us past every day.

Participate at your pace. Take a turn cranking a winch to raise the main, haul on a jib sheet, or sit back and sip a cool drink. From the first step aboard to the moment you return to the dock, your time on the river is yours.
