Sunset Sail on the Philadelphia Waterfront

What the Sail Looks Like

Golden hour sun glistening off glass skyscrapers and rippling waters. The views of Philadelphia from the Delaware River at sunset are breathtaking.

Our captain will take you on a leisurely sail north past the Ben Franklin Bridge to see Cherry Street and Race Street piers from the water. We continue toward Graffiti Pier for a view of the ever evolving public art along the riverbank.

Depending on the winds and tides, our captain will deploy the sails and head south past Petty Island, where you can observe wildlife and natural vegetation on this storied island in the middle of the Delaware River. We ease the main and take a relaxing look at the sunset as we glide through some of the best views in the city.

You may see container ships moving through the shipping channel, tugs working the river, and the Philadelphia skyline shifting as we sail.

We meet at the Phila Sail location on Google Maps near the south east corner of Independence Seaport Museum. Once you’re aboard, we motor out into the channel and get settled before the sails go up. There’s plenty of room in the cockpit. You can help with the lines if you want or just find a spot and watch the city go by. Most people are surprised by how quiet it gets once the engine is off and the sails are filled. The only sounds are the water, the wind, and whatever conversation happens naturally. Bring a jacket, it’s always a few degrees cooler on the water than it is on shore. Sunglasses too, the reflections off the water at golden hour are stunning.
